Baltic birch is a plywood product native to the northeastern region of Europe around the Baltic Sea. It ’s manufactured for European cabinetmaking.
Key Features
High-Quality Timber: Baltic Birch has a dense and uniform grain, making it more durable than regular birch plywood. It typically has a higher number of plywood layers, providing stronger structural support.
Multi-Layer Plywood: Unlike regular plywood, Baltic Birch plywood typically uses thinner veneer layers, which are interlaced to form more layers (usually 7, 9, or even more). This design improves the plywood's strength, stability, and resistance to warping.
Superior Surface Finish: Baltic Birch plywood generally has a smoother, flatter surface, suitable for applications requiring high surface quality. It is also ideal as an exposed surface, such as in furniture making, cabinetry, and woodworking projects.
Quality Grades
Baltic birch plywood is typically classified based on factors such as surface quality, thickness, and number of layers. Common quality grades include: BB/CC: Good surface quality, but some imperfections may occur on the back.
AB: Smooth surface, suitable for high-quality applications.
AA: Flawless surface, suitable for high-end applications requiring a perfect finish.
Application
Because of its pleasing appearance, it is a wood typically used for cabinetry and other furniture. Baltic birch is suitable for a variety of projects, from cabine tmaking to building construction.
